The biggest challenge Taiwan has encountered during its fintech transformation process in recent years has been a shortage of expertise, particularly people with cross-domain and cross-sector financial and technology skills.
One of the eight key points revealed in the FSC’s 2020 FinTech Development Roadmap is “capacity building” to solve the pain point of a fintech talent shortage. The financial industry is changing rapidly with the arrival of fintech. In order to relieve this shortage, in addition to strengthening internal staff transformation, the government has established a fintech certification system and striven to cultivate relevant skills. It has also been recruiting people with cross-sector experience to join the financial sector.
In past interactions with the financial industry, the organizers of FinTech Taipei have seen a continuous demand for fintech skills. Companies joining FinTech Taipei not only look forward to attracting capital and technology, but also talent. Therefore, the first FinTech Virtual Job Fair will be held this year, aiming to create business opportunities for talent matching through exchanges and demonstrations.
A new trend in job search
In response to the pandemic, the biennial FinTech Taipei expo has been changed to an online event this year. The fintech talent fair, called FinTech Talents 2021, originally scheduled to be added to FinTech Taipei for the first time this year, will also be held online. The virtual job fair will be launched on October 26, 2021, using the gamified video platform “Gather Town” which was created during the pandemic as a virtual job fair, so that students and job seekers can be protected during their job search. This format could start a new job search trend.
In order to retain the characteristics of a physical expo, the FinTech Talent Talks of the virtual job fair will allow companies to share recruitment promotions and complete one-on-one video consultations, instant message Q&A, online sweepstakes, and other interactive functions. The functional content of the fintech co-creation platform capacity building group will also be moved online and presented in Gather Town as of an online special virtual exhibition, so that job seekers will better understand what skills the financial industry will need in the future, and what abilities are needed to enter the sector.
In order to build a fintech talent pool, in addition to planning a complete and systematic fintech competency certification mechanism, the Fintech Joint Creation Platform Capacity Building Group convened by TABF plans to join the “fintech talent zone” at the Financial Elite Network (FEN) platform, which is also created by TABF. Job seekers interested in joining the industry and employers with recruitment needs can use the platform for two-way matchmaking. The fair will also be combined with FEN to create a professional matchmaking exchange platform for fintech talent, providing companies and job seekers with more diverse matching channels.
Many well-known companies will join the fair, including CITIC Financial Holdings, Cathay Financial Holdings, Huanan Financial Holdings, Yongfeng Financial Holdings, Fubon Bank, and NEC, etc. Participate in the fair to obtain the latest fintech vacancy information and matchmaking channels through real-time interaction with human resources departments, and win a chance at a new career!
